           This Mother's Day, we want to celebrate an extraordinary woman, Mummy Abigail. Her story is a testament to the power of love and resilience. When Abigail was born with a disability, her father abandoned them. Mummy Abigail was left alone, struggling to make ends meet. But she refused to give up. With the help of her grandmother and the Essanyu Lyamukadde Wange Foundation, she found a way to provide for Abigail. Despite the challenges, Mummy Abigail is working hard to give Abigail a happy life. She encourages Abigail to embrace her disability and use it as motivation to succeed. Empowering elderly Women Through Self-Care: Accelerating Progress 8th March 2024

  In celebration of International Women's Day and in alignment with its theme of "Invest in women: Accelerate progress," Essanyu Lyamukade Wange Foundation, in partnership with Inory Afros Natural Hair Salon, a salon specializing in natural hair care, celebrated it to honor and uplift elder women in Nakawuka Katalemwa Cell. The event commenced at 10 AM with a warm welcome hosted by Mukyala Zawedde, followed by a nourishing breakfast and engaging interactions. The focus then shifted to a session on hair maintenance, highlighting the effects of hair dyeing, particularly at an older age. Elders were encouraged to embrace their grey hair as a symbol of wisdom and life experiences, fostering self-acceptance and empowerment. This session, led by Ms. Iryn, CEO of Inory Afros Natural hair salon, aimed to instill confidence and celebrate the natural beauty of aging.   Abigail, a resilient five-year-old, entered this world with a disability that her father couldn't bear to accept. His abandonment left Abigail and her mother alone in the harsh realities of extreme poverty, their only refuge being a small tomato vending shop in Nakawuka Katalemwa. Despite her mother's tireless efforts, the weight of poverty made it impossible to afford Abigail's school fees and the customised shoes crucial for her mobility. It was in this darkest hour that the Essanyu Lyamukade wange foundation, dedicated to empowering elders and their dependents, became their guiding light. With the foundation's support, funds were raised to provide Abigail with custom-made shoes crafted by experts at the Mulago Orthopaedic Department.
